SCHOOL HORSE PROGRAM

The lesson program at Woodside allows for riders to trailer in on their own horses or use one of three horses available for lessons (see below). Like our training program, the lesson program is dedicated to creating a fun, safe, and effective environment in which to develop horsemanship and riding skills. Emphasis is on the importance of basics, strong flatwork, and correct position. Through this systematic approach to teaching, riders at Woodside are well-educated on the tools they need to be safe, successful, and confident at every level of riding.

Houston

2000 Thoroughbred Gelding

Houston has been a school horse at Woodside for over two years, and is known for his smooth gaits and reliable, kind manner.

With his owner Houston competed up to 3'3" in the jumper ring, and also crossed over in the Hunter and Equitation rings. In 2010 Houston competed successfully at A-Rated shows with his leasor.

"Dot"

2001 Appaloosa Mare

Dot has been used for occasional lessons over the past two years and is now available as a full time lesson horse. A familiar face around the horse shows in the Pacific Northwest due to her distinctive appearance, Dot is a seasoned veteran who knows her job.

Dot was leased to a rider in the show program in 2011, and competed all over the West Coast in the Pre-Child Hunters and Equitation, earning Championships at shows as far away as HITS Thermal and as close as Monroe.

High Desert
"Calvin"

1995 Warmblood Gelding

Calvin has extensive experience in the show arena, competing from Canada to Arizona in the jumper ring up to 4' with his owner, giving him the experience to be a gentle and straightforward horse to learn and master skills on.
